Photo Portfolio: About my work

I am a photographer drawn to the textures and rhythms of the natural world—the way light moves across a landscape, the quiet weight of a storm, the small gestures that reveal a deeper story. My work reflects a deep reverence for place, process, and the ecological richness of the Central Great Lakes, where forests, rivers, and lakes provide endless inspiration.

I strive for layered compositions that balance vast landscapes with intimate details—hands coated in soil, ripples spreading across still water, a seedball suspended mid-flight. I am especially drawn to the movement of wind through a Manoomin (wild rice) bed—the bending, swaying, and trembling of the stalks, the way it echoes the rhythms of the land.

Rooted in naturalism, my style favors available light, understated color, and an organic depth of field that guides the viewer’s eye. I embrace imperfection—the grain of film, the unpredictability of cross-processing, the way a double exposure can fuse two moments into something unexpected and true.

Above all, my photography is about storytelling—capturing land, labor, and ritual in ways that feel honest, evocative, and deeply human.
